Membranes are becoming the new standard for water/wastewater treatment, reuse, and desalination. Kennedy/Jenks Consultants has the knowledge and experience to evaluate your treatment needs and make a recommendation that optimizes your operation.
In the mid-1990s, one membrane plant existed in the United States. Today, thousands of membrane plants are operating or under construction worldwide, with many more planned. Kennedy/Jenks has designed membrane filtration systems for water and wastewater treatment systems throughout the western United States. Continuous improvement has pushed down costs. As a stand-alone solution, or in combination with conventional technologies, membrane filtration systems deliver high-quality results for:
Membranes Can Perform Better
In water treatment, membranes provide an absolute barrier for treatment and removal and for wastewater treatment and reuse, membranes completely remove pathogenic organisms, providing disinfection at the same time. Membranes are cost competitive for water applications and wastewater facilities especially with reuse and demanding discharge criteria. For desalination, membranes are cost-effective, robust, and flexible.
Exceptional Leadership
The Group is led by Val S. Frenkel, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE, who has more than 25 years of experience in membrane technology. Val was instrumental in developing the membrane desalination processes and in securing the original patents for microfiltration and ultrafiltration membranes for water and wastewater treatment. One of the world’s top experts in this field, he has authored or co-authored more than 100 papers on the subject and is a frequent presenter at regional, national, and international conferences.
World-Class Membrane Expertise
Kennedy/Jenks Consultants provides expertise in all areas of membrane use – water treatment, wastewater treatment and reuse, and desalination – in both municipal and industrial applications.
The Membrane Technology Group at Kennedy/Jenks has completed numerous membrane projects, including the pioneering Seawater Desalination Pilot Program for the Marin Municipal Water District, the comprehensive Brackish Water and Desalination Program and Plant for the City of Oxnard, and the Honolulu Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) Pilot Evaluation for the WateReuse Foundation.
