Kennedy Jenks Announces New Members of its Board of Directors

Kerwin Allen, Dawn Taffler, and Edward Yang join Kennedy Jenks Board of Directors effective immediately, bringing decades of combined experience to drive the company’s strategic goals.

 

SAN FRANCISCO, May 4, 2022

Kennedy Jenks announced that its shareholders have approved the nominations of Kerwin Allen, Dawn Taffler, and Edward (Ed) Yang to join the Kennedy Jenks Board of Directors for 2022.  

“We are pleased to have Kerwin, Dawn, and Ed serving on the Board of Directors,” says Gary Carlton, Chair, Board of Directors. “With their combined experience at Kennedy Jenks, and previous service to the Board, they understand our business inside and out and will help us deliver on our strategic goals in 2022.” 

With nearly 40 years of experience at Kennedy Jenks and within the engineering industry, Kerwin Allen, of San Francisco, California, has been a project engineer and project manager on large, award-winning infrastructure and water and wastewater treatment design projects. During that time, he has also supported operations as manager the San Francisco office as well as other Bay Area offices as Regional Manager, and previously twice served on the Kennedy Jenks Board of Directors.   

Kerwin has worked on a broad range of civil engineering projects, including site development, process and mechanical design, construction engineering, cost estimating, and campus infrastructure master planning and design.  

He earned his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California.  

 

Dawn Taffler, of Pasadena, California, is a recognized specialist in recycled water and planning. She brings over 22 years of experience on a wide range of multidisciplinary projects and has spent the last 16 years at Kennedy Jenks. This is her second term on the Board, having previously served as a director from 2017 through 2020. For eight years she led the firm’s Recycled Water and One Water Community Practices and recently transitioned to serve as the Client Director for California, focused on strategically growing sales across all Kennedy Jenks service lines.  

Known for serving as a critical liaison between engineering, public, and environmental teams, Dawn appreciates the complex communication required to successfully plan and develop innovative solutions to complex multi-agency projects. 

Dawn has a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois and an MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.  

 

 Ed Yang, of Pasadena, California, has 32 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering with a primary focus on the preliminary and final design of water, wastewater, and infrastructure facilities. He has managed the design of both water and wastewater treatment plants, storage, and large conveyance and distribution pipelines. He has additional expertise in information technology and the application of advanced computer-aided engineering applications.   

Since joining Kennedy Jenks in 2008, Ed has held progressive leadership roles including a one-year term on the Board from 2014 to 2015, and currently serves as the California Business Development Director.  

Ed received a BA in Engineering-Management from Claremont McKenna College, a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California at Davis, and a MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Loyola Marymount University.
