Kennedy Jenks announced today that Jonathan Shirk, PE, ENV-SP, joined the firm as a Senior Project Manager and technical advisor to bolster KJ’s large-diameter pipeline team. Shirk will be based in Texas, supporting KJ clients nationally on their critical pipeline projects.
“Shirk brings 20 years of extensive experience designing and executing small and large diameter water and wastewater conveyance projects, up to 144-inches in diameter. He has overseen about 100 miles of pipeline design, construction, and replacement throughout his career. As a project manager, he has extensive experience managing scope and fee negotiations, project schedules, project teams, and subconsultants.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jonathan to the KJ team,” said Edward Balchon, Director of Strategic Plan Implementation and Vice President at Kennedy Jenks. “As urban populations continue to grow, particularly in sunbelt states, the need for reliable, well-designed, and well-constructed conveyance systems is only increasing. Jonathan’s expertise will expand on KJ’s existing, robust pipeline program and clients across the country will benefit from his experience in public water and wastewater systems.”
Shirk, a Professional Engineer in Texas and Oklahoma, earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is an active member of the American Water Works Association, Water Environment Foundation, Underground Construction Technology Association, and American Society of Civil Engineers.
