Katty Fleming Named ENR MidAtlantic Top Young Professional

Katterine (Katty) Fleming, Asset Management Practitioner for Kennedy Jenks, has been named an ENR MidAtlantic Top Young Professional! This annual recognition honors rising stars in the engineering and construction industry in the Mid Atlantic U.S. who are committed to community development, industry advancement, and excellence in their careers.

Fleming joined Kennedy Jenks in 2022, helping establish asset management and reliability principles into KJ’s management practice and beyond.

Over the past decade, Fleming has held a series of engineering positions with increasing amounts of responsibility and authority. She has wide-ranging expertise in Asset Management, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) optimization projects, planning and assessments, and business process development. She is known for working closely with front-line O&M staff to understand their experiences and create practical solutions that lead to lasting change. Fleming has been instrumental in several significant water infrastructure projects internationally and in the US, from Washington, D.C., to San Diego, to Tijuana, Mexico.

Katty is a systems thinker and strong relationship builder who knows how to bring people together to solve complex problems. In her short time at KJ, she has not only educated our workforce on the benefits of asset management, but she has also been a fierce advocate for young people seeking careers in engineering.

— Doug Sawyers, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at KJ

Beyond her current role at KJ, Katty is highly active in local, national, and international professional organizations, including the Institute of Asset Management, American Water Works Association, and Engineers for International Development. Originally from Peru, Fleming is a role model to young people who may not always see themselves reflected in STEAM careers, serving as a mentor to aspiring engineers through several youth programs.

Fleming holds a BS in Civil Engineering and MS in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from George Mason University.
