Reinventing Wastewater Treatment Plants for Energy Neutral Treatment and Enhanced Fertilizer Production

Separation and Destruction of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) from Potable Reuse Reverse Osmosis Concentrate

As potable reuse programs expand, management of PFAS, which is often detected in many municipal wastewater effluents, becomes a challenge. Reverse osmosis (RO) membranes are often used in potable reuse treatment trains and while RO effectively rejects PFAS, PFAS are concentrated in the RO concentrate (ROC) potentially resulting in disposal challenges in the future. Join Charlie Liu for a discussion of research focused on PFAS treatment in ROC and how to mitigate industry concerns associated with potential future PFAS limits in waste streams.
